For her medicine, a 70-year-old mother pleaded with her son for financial help — instead, he merely gave her a pack of noodles. However, her speech was completely gone once she discovered what was tucked away inside. 💔🍜 Over rural Texas, the afternoon sun was sinking low, while dust and drizzle made the air feel heavy. Moving slowly down the gravel path, a delicate woman clad in a threadbare coat made soft tapping sounds against the wet earth with her cane. To ask her only son for assistance was the single goal that day for seventy-year-old Helen Carter. Hospital papers and just a handful of coins — which couldn't even buy half of a meal — sat inside her worn canvas bag. Her doctors had advised her that she required heart surgery in the near future, costing thousands. With nobody else available, she had no other choice. Yet, Helen kept her faith in her son. Having been raised with absolutely nothing, Michael now ran a successful hardware business located in Houston. He would surely support the mother who had raised him on her own following his father’s death. Pressing the bell, she arrived at the tall iron gate. An answering voice sounded sleek. Clad in silk, Lauren, Michael’s wife, showed up with her face looking sharp with irritation. “Oh… it’s you. What brings you here, Mrs. Carter?” A gentle smile crossed Helen's face. “I came to see you both. I… need a little help. For my surgery.” Turning her head, Lauren called out. “Michael! Your mom’s here.” Holding his phone, Michael stepped outside a few moments later, his expression appearing distant yet calm. “Mom, I’m in the middle of something. What’s wrong?” With hands that trembled, she unfolded a piece of paper. “The doctors said I need an operation soon. I can pay you back when your brother sells his crops. I just need enough to start.” In a practiced tone, Michael let out a sigh. “Mom, business is tight right now. Things are rough. I’ll send something later.” Next, in an almost awkward manner, he reached into his trunk, opened it, and presented her with a pack of instant noodles. “Take this for now. Don’t worry, I’ll help when I can.” He ushered her back in the direction of the gate before she had a chance to respond. “It’s raining harder. Go home and rest.” With a hollow clang, the gate swung shut. Holding the noodles tightly, Helen stood there in the falling rain. Although her eyes shimmered, a faint smile appeared on her face. “He must really be struggling,” she whispered. “At least he still gave me something.” She made her way back to her tiny house that evening, where the floor creaked under her weight and the roof was leaking. Depleted of energy and hungry, she resolved to prepare the noodles. However, as she ripped open the package, out slipped a small, folded object — causing the elderly woman to freeze in place as her trembling hands gripped the counter. Upon realizing her son's actions, her eyes filled up with tears. To be continued in comments 👇👇
